  • 3”x4” backing fabric
  • 2 ½” square of wadding
  • 2 ¼” piece of thin cardboard (like cereal packet)

Please note the following);
v  All Fabric is placed on the blank side.
v  Cut all fabric square or rectangular to avoid distortion when stitching across the grain.

Method;
1.     Using fabric glue or Pritt stick place fabric on the blank side section 1 ensuring at least a ¼” seam allowance. (hold fabric up to the light to check position)
2.    Position fabric over section 2 and stitch. (Check fabric position with a pin prior to stitching. Ensure there is enough fabric to cover the space and allow a minimal seam allowance of ¼”)
3.    Stitch on the lines marked with a small back stitch.
4.    Finger press then trim seam allowance to ¼” prior to placing the next piece.
5.    Continue in chronological order until all sections are covered.
6.    Press
 7.    Place the wadding on top of the stitching and hold in place with a small piece of fabric glue or Pritt stick.
8.    On the front of the design embroider your name while quilting at the same time.
9.    Taking your backing fabric cut it into two pieces 3x2”. Press under ½” on the two 2”edges leaving you a square 3x3” when placed together.
10. Place this square right side to right side and stitch around the wadding.
11.    Trim the edges to ¼” and trim the corners
12.    Turn through and press
 13.    Slot the cardboard through the gap in the back and slip stitch closed.
14.    Stitch brooch back in place and voila!
