2nd September 2024 Show & Tell Teresa Cuthbert – Group Quilt 2024/25 Bring basic hand sewing kit. 16th September 2024 Jane Corbett – Quilt Detectives (trunk show) Saturday 28th - Workshop Dawn Cameron-Dick - Invisible Machine Appliqué 10am-4pm - Malvern Victoria Bowls Club Workshop cost £25 for Malvern Quilters members, £45 for non-members. This workshop will teach you how to use your sewing machine for invisible machine appliqué, with techniques that you can not only apply to appliqué motifs, but also to appliqué blocks such as Drunkard's Path, Dresden and New York Beauty. In addition, you will also learn how to use the technique to make mitred borders for your quilts. You will also need a small pair of scissors, a thimble if you wear one, and an embroidery hoop if you wish. Monday 18th November Show & Tell Christmas Project – focus on Y-seams Requirements: basic sewing kit and (optional) sewing machine. Monday 3rd Joy Harber – An Obsession with Log Cabin (trunk show) Monday 17th Judi Mendelssohn – On being NOT a championship quilter Saturday 29th - Workshop - note change of date Joy Harber – Miniature Log Cabin - Create your very own mini quilt using a quick strip piecing method. These can be adapted into needle cases, bags and lots of other fun projects. Joy was a Festival of Quilts winner in 2015. 10am-4pm - Malvern Victoria Bowls Club Workshop cost £35 for members of Malvern Quilters, £50 for external participants. Workshop requirements April 2025 Monday 7th April Show & Tell In-house – Tying the Group Quilt Please bring: embroidery needles, small scissors, a spoon, any leftover threads from embroidering the quilt blocks. Saturday 12th April – Workshop Judi Mendelssohn - New York Beauty The New York beauty is foundation paper pieced and with Judi's method, no experience is needed. She will provide all the foundation papers ready printed. There will also be a very simple method of curved piecing, so it's a block with lots of technique - and honestly not difficult. 10am-4pm - Malvern Victoria Bowls Club Workshop cost £35 for members of Malvern Quilters, £50 for external participants. Monday 19th May Show & Tell Meeting sewalong - skillbuilding, charity quilt blocks. We shall be concentrating on skills: scant 1/4" seams, pressing and trimming. For each block you will need two 5" squares in medium to dark shades of blue and two 5" squares in white or white-on-white, four 2 1/2" squares in a medium or dark blue and four 2 1/2" squares in white or white-on-white. Patterned blue fabrics are fine, as long as blue is the predominant colour. Everyone ought to be able to make at least two blocks, so bring fabric accordingly. You will also need a basic sewing machine with extension lead, neutral thread, rotary cutter with sharp blade & ruler, small scissors, stitch ripper, iron and mat, notebook, and a sharp pencil. A squaring-up ruler would be useful.
